Premium Grüner Veltliner and a lot of family spirit

At the Austrian winery R&A Pfaffl, family comes first. The two generations (and the small members of the third one!) successfully work hand in hand and have been producing quality Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Chardonnay, Zweigelt and St. Laurent, as well as the strong red Cuvées ‘Excellent Reserve’ and ‘Heidrom Grand Reserve’, for 40 years.

Roman and Adelheid Pfaffl passed on the love for viticulture to their children Roman Josef Pfaffl and Heidi Fischer, and today, the family is a prime example of superb cross-generational teamwork. “Everyone has their own place and can thrive freely,” says Heidi Fischer. “That way, we harmonise perfectly and have a lot of fun in the process.”

This passion is also evident in the Pfaffl wines, which are of top quality and continue to receive awards every year. Hence, the vineyard of 110 hectares is now known far beyond the Austrian borders and distributes its wines in no less than 30 countries.

A particularly special honour for the winery was to receive the ‘Wine Star’ Award as ‘European winery of the year 2016’, awarded to them by the prestigious U.S. magazine Wine Enthusiast. The Pfaffls were the very first Austrian winery to receive this award. “We are very happy to raise our flag throughout the whole world,” smiles Roman Josef Pfaffl. “We Austrians can be truly proud of our wines.”

Grüner Veltliner der Spitzenklasse und jede Menge Family

Auf dem österreichischen Weingut R&A Pfaffl wird Familienzusammenhalt täglich gelebt. Die zwei Generationen (und die Minis der dritten) arbeiten erfolgreich Hand in Hand und produzieren dabei seit 40 Jahren hochwertigen Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Chardonnay, Zweigelt und St. Laurent, sowie die kräftigen roten Cuvées ‚Excellent Reserve‘ und ‚Heidrom Grand Reserve‘.

Die Liebe für den Weinbau haben Roman und Adelheid Pfaffl an ihre Kinder Roman Josef Pfaffl und Heidi Fischer weitergegeben, denn heute ist das Weingut ein Paradebeispiel wunderbarster Zusammenarbeit. „Jeder hat seinen Platz und darf sich frei entfalten“, erzählt Heidi Fischer. „So harmonieren wir sehr gut zusammen und es macht uns großen Spaß.“

Diese Leidenschaft spürt man auch in den Pfafflschen Weinen, die in hoher Qualität geboten werden und unentwegt Auszeichnungen bekommen. Das 110 Hektar große Weingut ist daher weit über die Landesgrenzen hinaus bekannt und vertreibt seine Weine in 30 Ländern.

Eine besondere Ehre war die Verleihung des ‚Wine Star‘ Awards als ‚Europäisches Weingut des Jahres 2016‘ des renommierten U.S. Magazins Wine Enthusiast, das somit erstmalig ein österreichisches Weingut auszeichnete. „Wir freuen uns sehr, unsere Fahne auf der ganzen Welt hoch zu halten“, lächelt Roman Josef Paffl. „Auf unsere Weine können wir Österreicher wahrlich stolz sein.“
