Marburg is always worth a trip. For its anniversary in 2022, however, the central Hessian university town will become an absolute must that is high on your list of desired travel locations.

From 28 March 2022, you will be able to experience the Marburg of today along with the history of yesterday and the vision of tomorrow. Always impressive spots to see on any visit are St. Elisabeth’s Church in the valley, the charming ‘Upper Town’ up the slope, and the crowning Landgrafen Palace. In the anniversary year, the town will bring you back toits otherwise hidden past. Video mapping, augmented reality and 3D models visualise the urban development, the history of the palace and the construction of St. Elisabeth’s Church.

Speaking of experiences – entirely in the spirit of Luther, who was invited by Landgrave Philipp to attend a religious talk in Marburg in the 16th century – one should definitely consider the ’let’s look at the Marburgers’ mouths’ scenic tours, available in an authentic setting and which illuminate some splendid highlights of the town’s history. A town clerk has dedicated their own play to Marburg, too, and then there are the various music festivals to get you going.

Celebrate in Marburg’s churches, in the castle, in the squares, in the gardens and at the Lahn.

Ab dem 28. März 2022 erlebst du die Universitätsstadt Marburg von Heute mit der Geschichte von Gestern und der Vision von Morgen. Immer wieder beeindruckend: Die Elisabethkirche im Tal, die charmante Oberstadt hangaufwärts und das alles bekrönenden Landgrafenschloss. Im Jubiläumsjahr aber bringt dich die Stadt zurück in die sonst verborgene Vergangenheit. Videomapping, Augmented Reality und 3D-Modelle visualisieren die Stadtentwicklung, die Schlossgeschichte und den Bau der Elisabethkirche.

Apropos erleben – ganz im Sinne von Luther, der im 16. Jh. auf Einladung von Landgraf Philipp zum Religionsgespräch in Marburg weilte, ‚schauen wir den Marburgern aufs Maul‘: Szenische Führungen in authentischer Kulisse beleuchten die Highlights der Historie, eine Stadtschreiberin hat der Stadt ihr eigenes Theaterstück gewidmet und diverse Musikfestivals bringen dich in Schwingung.
