Strick Zella demonstrates how to successfully combine ecological, social, and innovative values.

In 1920, Strick Zella was founded as the knitwear factory LEONARD MAI 1920 in Eichsfeld, Thuringia. Since the relaunch in 2005, and the modernisation of the machinery, 30 employees now process exclusive Italian yarns as well as the company’s own fibre innovations into knitting couture for MIA MAI and LEONARD MAI – the fashion label for women and men.

From knitting to shipping, the entire production is in the hands of the manufactory. Thus, the company meets the highest social and ecological standards. Textiles of high-quality regarding workmanship and material have a long shelf life. If the service life of clothing is extended from just one to two years, the CO2 emissions associated with production, transport and disposal are reduced by approximately 24 percent.

PERO® is the world’s first wool yarn with built-in protection against annoying clothes moths. A process, which has been patented by Strick Zella. Ultra-fine merino wool fibres are mixed with a very small proportion (about three percent) of fragrance-doped lyocell fibre. The low proportion of lyocell imperceptibly changes the textile properties, and the smell of the wool.

Strick Zella can combine its Strick Couture with smart functions: for example, with Bluetooth headsets (headband VENDA) and flexible washable heaters (heating belt TOSHA), which can be operated on the go from a power bank or from a USB port of a PC.

Strick Zella wurde 1920 als Strickwarenfabrik LEONARD MAI 1920 im Eichsfeld, Thüringen, gegründet. Nach dem Neustart in 2005, und der Modernisierung des Maschinenparks, verarbeiten nun 30 Mitarbeiter exklusive italienische Garne und eigene Faserinnovationen zu Strick-Couture für MIA MAI und LEONARD MAI – die Damen- bzw. Herrenlinie.

Vom Stricken bis zum Versand liegt die komplette Produktion in der Hand der Manufaktur. So erfüllt das Unternehmen höchste soziale und ökologische Standards. In Verarbeitung und Material hochwertige Textilien haben eine lange Haltbarkeit. Verlängert man die Lebensdauer von Bekleidung nur von einem auf zwei Jahre, reduziert sich die mit Produktion, Transport und Entsorgung verbundene CO2 – Emissionen um ca. 24 Prozent.

PERO® ist das weltweit erste Wollgarn mit einem eingebauten Schutz gegen lästige Kleidermotten. Ein Verfahren, welches von Strick Zella patentiert worden ist. Ultrafeine Merinowollfasern werden zu einem sehr geringen Anteil (etwa drei Prozent) mit Duftstoff dotierten Lyocell – Fasern vermischt. Der geringe Anteil des Lyocells ändert die textilen Eigenschaften, sowie den Geruch der Wolle unmerklich.

Strick Zella kann seine Strick Couture mit smarten Funktionen kombinieren: beispielsweise mit Bluetooth Headsets (Stirnband VENDA) und flexiblen waschbaren Heizungen (Heizgürtel TOSHA), die unterwegs aus einer Powerbank oder stationär aus einem USB-Anschluss eines PCs betrieben werden können.
