SPECIAL THEME: BUSINESS CONSULTING EXPERTS: Become more crisis proof with the support of consultants
TEXT: NANE STEINHOFF, BDU
According to a study by the Federal Association of German Management Consulting, BDU (Bundesverband Deutscher Unternehmensberater), for companies to become more crisis proof, they should get support from consultants.
In view of the growing number of crisis factors and scenarios in the German economy, more and more companies are putting the brakes on costs. Programmes to increase efficiency are also gaining momentum. For the consulting industry, this means that customer demand for classic restructuring and reorganisation topics is increasing.
The result: when comparing all consulting segments, the business climate of restructuring consultants is the only consulting field to increase its index value in the quarterly consulting industry survey conducted by the Federal Association of German Management Consultancies for the second quarter of 2022.
In the overall market, on the other hand, the slight downward trend in the business climate in the consulting industry that began in Q4/2021 is continuing for the third time in a row. The index value is currently 100.2 (Q1/2022: 102.4 and Q4/2021: 108.3). However, the consulting industry indicator is at a significantly higher level than the ifo business climate index for the economy as a whole, which is collected using the same system as that of the BDU (ifo business climate index 06/2022: 92.3).
BDU president Ralf Strehlau: “The Putin war, delivery bottlenecks, crisis scenarios in the energy supply and the high inflation rate are increasingly ringing alarm bells among companies. The consequence: with the support of us consultants, business and industry are able to become crisis-proof as quickly and comprehensively as possible.”
