For decades, pop music has inspired people all over the world. Catchy melodies, electrifying beats, or powerful lyrics – pop music has the ability to evoke emotions and create memories.

The rock’n’popmuseum in Gronau has been telling the cultural history of 20th century popular music since 2004. Housed in a historic building, the rock’n’popmuseum and its innovative exhibition concept give the visitors goosebumps. Just like a live concert!

One of the highlights awaits the visitors at the entrance: Musician Udo Lindenberg himself greets each visitor on a multi-monitor animation.

The permanent as well as the special exhibitions offer a multi-media experience of sounds, pictures, and exhibits for all age groups. Nine special themed areas each highlight particular aspects of the history of rock and pop. They range from punk rock to folk, from hip-hop to techno. Numerous exhibits by legends Kurt Cobain, Freddie Mercury, and David Bowie, as well as interactive stops for children, round off the unique concept of rock’n’popmuseum.

Acoustically, the exhibition has a lot to offer, too: Via headphones, the visitors are played the sounds corresponding to their respective location in the exhibition. In ‘Pophimmel’ (pop heaven), they will enjoy a unique show that whisks them away to the emotional world of a pop concert.

Wie ein Livekonzert für die ganze Familie

Seit Jahrzehnten begeistert Popmusik die Menschen auf der ganzen Welt. Egal, ob eingängige Melodien, mitreißende Beats oder kraftvolle Texte: Popmusik hat die Fähigkeit, Emotionen zu wecken und Erinnerungen zu schaffen.

Das rock’n’popmuseum in Gronau erzählt bereits seit 2004 die Kulturgeschichte der Popularmusik des 20. Jahrhunderts. Seit Ende 2018 erstrahlt das historische Gebäude in neuem Glanz: Hören, Sehen, Fühlen – das rock’n’popmuseum schafft mit seinem innovativen Ausstellungskonzept Gänsehautmomente wie bei einem Livekonzert.

Ein Höhepunkt erwartet die Besuchenden bereits am Eingang: Der Musiker Udo Lindenberg, Ideengeber des Museums, begrüßt auf einer Multimonitoranimation jeden Besuchenden höchstpersönlich!

In der Ausstellung und den Sonderausstellungen gibt es für alle Altersgruppen ein multimediales Erlebnis aus Sounds, Bildern und Exponaten. Neun Themeninseln beleuchten jeweils einen besonderen Aspekt der Rock- und Popgeschichte. Diese reichen von Punkrock bis zu Folk, über Hip-Hop bis zu Techno. Zahlreiche Exponate von Musiklegenden Kurt Cobain, Freddie Mercury und David Bowie sowie interaktive Kinderstationen runden das einzigartige Ausstellungskonzept des rock’n’popmuseums ab.

Auch akustisch hat die Ausstellung einiges zu bieten: Via Kopfhörer bekommen alle Besuchenden die Sounds zugespielt, die zum jeweiligen Standort gehören. Im Pophimmel kommen die Musikfans dann in den einzigartigen Genuss einer ganz besonderen Show, die sie in die emotionalen Welten eines Popkonzerts entführt.
