Mozarthaus Vienna presents the life and work of Wolfgang Amadé Mozart in an exceptional way. Nowhere else did Mozart compose more music than in his apartment at Domgasse 5, where he lived in grand style from 1784 to 1787. Visitors can dive deep into the life of the legendary musical genius and experience Mozart’s only remaining Viennese apartment near St. Stephen’s Cathedral.

Mozarthaus Vienna, a museum of Wien Holding, presents three exhibition levels focusing on Mozart’s life and work in this former apartment. The exhibition looks at the years Mozart spent in Vienna when he was at the highpoint of his creativity. Mozarthaus Vienna has an extensive event programme ranging from concerts to book presentations and symposiums, held in the Bösendorfer Hall at Mozarthaus Vienna, a concert and event room in cooperation with Klaviermanufaktur Bösendorfer.

The new special exhibition Mozart: Traveller across Europe brings the archive of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Wien to Mozarthaus Vienna. No other composer of his time travelled as much as Mozart did. He got to know essential parts of Europe and their music scenes. The new special exhibition addresses the composer’s experiences in Europe for the first time and visitors can enjoy it until 20 January 2020, at Mozarthaus Vienna.

Willkommen bei Mozart

Das Mozarthaus Vienna präsentiert auf einzigartige Weise das Leben und Werk von Wolfgang Amadé Mozart. An keinem anderen Ort komponierte Mozart mehr Musik als in seiner Wohnung in der Domgasse 5, wo er von 1784 bis 1787 geradezu herrschaftlich lebte. Besucher können hier tief ins Leben des legendären Musikgenies eintauchen und nur unweit des Stephansdoms die einzige bis heute erhaltene Wiener Wohnung Mozarts erleben.

Im Mittelpunkt stehen Mozarts Wiener Jahre, die den Höhepunkt seines Schaffens darstellen. Das Mozarthaus Vienna gibt nicht nur einen historischen Einblick in die damalige Zeit und das tägliche Leben Mozarts, sondern beherbergt auch eine umfassende Präsentation seiner wichtigsten Werke. Ebenfalls zum Haus gehört ein Konzert- und Veranstaltungssaal, welcher in Kooperation mit der berühmten Klaviermanufaktur Bösendorfer als ‚Bösendorfer-Saal im Mozarthaus Vienna‘ bespielt wird.

Mit der neuen Sonderausstellung Mozart: Reisender in Europa ist das Archiv der Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Wien zu Gast im Mozarthaus Vienna, einem Museum der Wien Holding. Kein anderer Komponist seiner Zeit ist so viel gereist wie Mozart. Er hat wesentliche Teile Europas und dessen Musikszene gekannt. Die neue Sonderausstellung thematisiert erstmals die künstlerischen Erfahrungen des Komponisten in Europa und ist noch bis zum 26. Jänner 2020 im Mozarthaus Vienna zu sehen.
