For over 50 years, family-owned Swiss chocolatier Läderach has been creating exquisite chocolate with a focus on freshness, artisanal skills and Switzerland. They skilfully show why fresh ingredients also make a major difference when it comes to chocolate.
Swiss chocolatier Läderach uses top-quality cocoa to create a range of tenderly smooth melting chocolate creations: from their original FrischSchoggi, 80 different pralines and truffles, Mini Mousses, and exquisite chocolate popcorn, their treats are an absolute must for any chocolate connoisseur.
“The joy of fresh chocolate is what’s most important to us,” Johannes Läderach, the oldest son from the third generation of the family and CEO of the Swiss factory, explains. “We pay close attention to the quality of every single ingredient, but also to the way in which we manufacture our chocolate. We are creative, we want to surprise the customer time and again, and we want to make chocolate that can be enjoyed with all the senses.”
Läderach is one of the few chocolate manufacturers that monitors the entire sustainable production process. The ‘Rainforest Alliance’-certified cocoa travels from Ghana and South America to Läderach’s factory in Glarus. Johannes Läderach adds: “We know our farmers personally and work together closely with their families, local organisations and non-governmental organisations.”
One distinctive aspect: the liquid chocolate is transported from the Swiss production facility to the nearby factory while it is still warm, ensuring maximum freshness and thus a unique taste experience. Many of their chocolate masterpieces are still made by hand with a great deal of attention to detail. “We believe in authentic craftsmanship and are extremely passionate about what we do,“ Johannes Läderach says with a smile.
For chocoholics who want to dive even further into Swiss chocolate-making, a visit to the House of Läderach in Bilten comes highly recommended. Aside from the spacious shop with the world’s longest FrischSchoggi counter, it also offers an interactive factory tour, live production, a walk-in atelier, and a café – in short, an experience for all the senses.
