Kiwa BCS Öko-Garantie GmbH is one of the pioneers of organic certification in Europe. With its headquarters in Germany’s Nuremberg, Kiwa BCS offers global certification control services to help retailers, suppliers, producers, logistics partners or farmers, to build customer confidence and to access the European organic market. Tobias Fischer, scheme manager of EU Organic Certification International, explains: “Our many years of experience and engagement in all areas of organic production form a solid foundation for Kiwa BCS. How does it work?

As a licensed and private inspection body, Kiwa BCS carries out inspections and certifications in all areas of organic production for farmers, processing companies, packing companies, importers and exporters, as well as storage companies. Thereby, the company offers a variety of internationally recognised certifications of organic products according to numerous organic, fairtrade and sustainability standards in Germany and abroad. One example, is the ‘BCS-Organic-Production-Standard’ which describes an equivalent EU Organic certification in third countries that is approved by the EU commission and Kiwa’s accreditation body DAkkS. “Our aim is to support your business in producing, trading or handling organic products, in which your customers can rely on and trust,” says Tobias Fischer, and adds: “Working with you, we design, apply, audit and monitor protocols that provide assurance throughout the entire international organic food supply chain – from farm to fork.”

Thanks to the in-depth expertise of Kiwa’s employees, the company puts special emphasis on recognising and pointing out potential problems before or during the certification process. Today, more than 200 experts carry out inspections and certifications of processing, production and trade in many countries, such as China, Turkey, Brazil, Saudia Arabia, Chile, Germany, Russia and many more. “Through this network we are able to provide a wide knowledge of local and international organic standards, reliable certification services, and the quick creation of transaction certificates, all from one hand,” concludes Tobias Fischer.
