Built in 1884, the Hotel Kronenschlösschen, nestled in an idyllic park with a fantastic view of the river Rhine, has been the centre stage for an important chapter in German history. It was at the Kronenschlösschen where Konrad Adenauer, Germany’s first post-war chancellor, discussed the new German constitution with Theodor Heuss and Carlo Schmid. In the years since, the hotel has seen ongoing success. Owner Hans B. Ullrich explains that “the hotel was in a very bad condition back in 1990 and it would have been easier to demolish it.
