Do you love German wine or are curious to give it a try? And are you based in the UK? Then, you should probably check out The WineBarn – an institution that truly lives, breathes and loves wine. “Good German wine is everything to us and we strive to provide a personalised service founded in expert knowledge, quality advice and always a tailored recommendation. Whatever your wine needs, you can be certain that we can help select the right wines for your taste,” smiles Iris Ellmann, director of The WineBarn. What’s even more special is that The WineBarn is known for also offering rare and antique wines, while being able to source elusive investment wines from hidden cellars in Germany.
Every year, The WineBarn holds a special wine tasting event that provides aficionados and newcomers to German wine with a rare opportunity to learn more about the wonderful wines on offer, in a relaxed and friendly environment. Just once a year, their winemakers, from various regions of Germany, come to London to offer samples of their delicious wines. Passionate about what they do, they will explain about various climates, soils and cellar techniques, which will give an insight into German winemaking and philosophy. There will be approximately 120 wines on show, including elegant Spätburgunders (Pinot Noirs), dry Rieslings and sparkling Sekts. The WineBarn focuses on providing a very personal service. As such, native German, Iris and her knowledgeable team, will be on hand to advise on wine styles, tasting, food pairings and more.
Described as the ‘the Jewel in the crown of German wine merchants’ by Steven Spurrier, the consultant editor of Decanter, this will be The WineBarn’s 19th portfolio tasting event. Trusted by the UK’s top sommeliers, the company supply many of the finest Michelin-starred restaurants, as well as Selfridges and Harvey Nichols. And for the last four years, they have won the title of ‘Specialist Merchant of the Year for Germany’ at the International Wine Challenge (IWC) Merchant Awards.
