We have arrived at the height of summer and there are plenty of amazing events to make it worth your while. Whether you love listening to music on a warm summer’s eve or trying culinary delights and new cocktails – August promises to have it all.
SCHLOSS SCHÖNBRUNN CONCERTS, VIENNA (DAILY IN AUGUST)
The scenic Schönbrunn Castle hosts daily evening concerts featuring music by Mozart and Strauss throughout the month of Au- gust. You can often book dinner events and other tour options on top of it – making it a well-rounded experience.
BUSKERS BERN, BERN (10 – 12 AUGUST)
The Buskers Bern festival celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and it’s going to be a big event. The festival invites everyone to en- joy a relaxed yet festive atmosphere around Bern’s Old Town and with 121 artists, guests can look forward to a spectacular array of cultural performances. Culinary highlights complement the programme.
RUHRTRIENNALE, RUHR (11 AUGUST – 18 SEPTEMBER)
This art festival invites contemporary art- ists to install art around the former industri- al buildings of the Ruhr area. From music, dance and theatre as well as installations and fine arts – this festival presents an eclec- tic mix of art. It connects art with industrial places and has an utterly unique vibe.
MS DOCKVILLE FESTIVAL, HAMBURG (18 – 20 AUGUST)
The MS Dockville Festival is a music and arts event in the heart of Hamburg. The festival fea- tures various artists, bands and DJs providing a wonderful atmosphere for both music and art lovers. Over 60,000 visitors and around 10,000 campers flock to the festival each year. With a diverse line-up on twelve stages, guests can expect exciting artists and a wonderful festival vibe with a harbour backdrop.
ONARIS, BERN (20 – 22 AUGUST)
As a trade fair for innovations and trends, Onaris aims to have around 250 exhibitors present their novelties and trends in lifestyle, decor and accessories paired with culinary treats. The fair brings together creative young designers, established industry lead- ers and a powerful professional audience. This year marks its 50th anniversary.
LIQUID MARKET COCKTAIL FESTIVAL, VIENNA (24 – 26 AUGUST)
This three-day festival in Vienna brings a wonderful selection of cocktails from a col-lection of cocktail bars straight to its guests. It claims to be Austria’s biggest festival for contemporary bar lifestyle and it certainly does deliver. With or without alcohol, these exquisite cocktails are a memorable sensa- tion for your taste buds.
GOURMET FESTIVAL DÜSSELDORF, DÜSSELDORF (25 – 27 AUGUST)
The Gourmet Festival Dusseldorf features over 200 exhibitors from upscale gastronomy, manufacturers offering their delicacies from all over the world, and a variety of drinks ranging from wine to champagne to gin. Visitors can also enjoy street food from the lovingly de- signed food trucks.
VIENNA CLASSIC DAYS, VIENNA (26 – 27 AUGUST)
Classic car enthusiasts will find their match at the wonderfully old-school old timer festival. The highlight is the Old Timer Parade when vehicles of all shapes, sizes and eras do a tour of the Ring. There will be many old-timer friends who travelled far to take part and even if you are just a spectator it is well worth it.
