Come celebrate ‘The Golden Twenties’ at Vienna’s Ball of Legal Professionals, on 22 February 2020

The traditional Ball of Legal Professionals was first held more than 200 years ago, and it has been hosted by the Association of Legal Professionals since 1956. This iconic event takes place at the historic state rooms of the Imperial Palace (Hofburg), the former residence of Austria’s emperors.

The theme of this year’s Ball of Legal Professionals is ‘The Golden Twenties’, which applies to the country ́s economic growth, expansion of liberal values in society and creative efforts in the field of art.

The Hofburg Vienna is the ideal place to host this glamourous night and the diverse programme ensures there is the right music and setting for everyone’s tastes.

The classic ‘Ziehrer – Hofball Orchestra’ will play the melodies of Strauss and other famous waltz composers to tempt the dancers onto the floor. As a second orchestra in the great ballroom, the Pepe Allstar Bandwill bring more modern sounds to these legendary halls.

The ball opens with the impressive entrance of the guests of honour. This will be followed by the female novice dancers in their charming white dresses and hairpieces, as well as the debutante young men in white ties guided by famous Prof. Thomas Schäfer-Elmayer.

Soprano Ildiko Raimondi, from the Vienna State Opera, will sing two arias as an homage to famous operetta composer Franz Lehár, whose 150th birthday will be celebrated in 2020.

Next to the traditional quadrille, which will be held in the main ballroom at both 00.30am and 2.00am, the midnight show ‘The Great Gatsby’ will bring the spirit of the golden ‘20s to the ball.

In different rooms, the guests can enjoy and dance to the music of the jazzy Mr. O & Co in the Ritterstube, a ballroom dance band will present popular music at the Zeremoniensaal and, for the first time, the Judiciary Clubbing Deluxe will take place in the Forum, where the two judges Waldi & Wolf will work the turntables. There will also be an exhibition celebrating 100 years of Austrian Constitution.

Magnificent ambiance, wonderful flower arrangements, marvellous music, international guests, beautiful ball gowns and overall elegance will make this year’s elite ball an outstanding event for all in attendance.
