Bercher Wines – An Exquisite Tasting Experience Saturday 26th August, 5.30pm

Award-winning wine merchant The WineBarn have teamed up with world-renowned Bercher Winery, from the Baden region of Germany, and come up with a wonderful way to spend a summer evening at home with friends.

Imagine a case of five of the most exquisite German wines sent direct to your door, and then sharing them with friends on a live Zoom tasting with winemaker Arne Bercher and Iris Ellmann from The WineBarn. They will talk you and your friends through the wines and tell you the stories behind them. You’ll be able to ask questions and find out more about the fascinating Kaiserstuhl region of Germany, and what makes these wines so special. After the talk, filled with new-found knowledge of the wines, you can enjoy them over dinner with friends and continue the discussion.

The five wines featured in the tasting will be a wonderful selection of Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc), Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris), Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) and Chardonnay. The wines included are;

2022 JECHTINGER WEISSBURGUNDER DRY (PINOT BLANC)

This Weissburgunder’s filigree acidity is complimented by its subtle fruity notes. Light golden yellow in colour, it has aromas of apple, hazelnut and citrus fruit, as well as delicate floral notes.

2021 BURKHEIMER SCHLOSSGARTEN GRAND CRU DRY (PINOT GRIS)

This Grauburgunder Grand Cru is enormously smooth, with elegant fruit notes of ripe pineapple and pear. Rich golden yellow in colour, it has a very harmonious acid structure.

2022 CHARDONNAY SE DRY

Golden yellow in colour, this dry Chardonnay has elegant notes of gooseberry and lime, combined with a spicy flavour and filigree acidity on the palate.

2018 BURKHEIMER SPÄTBURGUNDER VILLAGE DRY (PINOT NOIR)

A juicy, full-bodied ruby red. It has spicy sweet aromas of dark chocolate, orange and figs combined with a smooth, filigree acidity on the palate.

2020 BURKHEIMER FEUERBERG KESSELBERG SPÄTBURGUNDER GRAND CRU DRY (PINOT NOIR)

Dark ruby red in colour, this Spätburgunder Grand Cru has dense, red berry aromas. It is juicy, powerful and elegant on the palate, with a long, fine finish and soft tannins. A uniquely wonderful way to kick off an evening, taste some beautiful wines and enjoy time with friends!
