The charming spa town of Bad Homburg manages the perfect balance between tradition and modern times.

Set between the bustling city of Frankfurt on the Main and the peaceful hilltops of the Taunus, Bad Homburg has a lot to offer in addition to its ideal location. Exhibitions and live concerts lure the culture enthusiasts while the town’s famous casino turns night into day for many. Guests can indulge in the beautiful landscape parks, the historical Royal Day Spa, or they can enjoy a shopping spree at Bad Homburg’s many independent retailers.

An enjoyable day

The perfect Bad Homburg day starts with a relaxed walk to ‘Landgrafenschloss’ castle. Enjoy a guided tour through the historical living quarters, climb the white tower and be stunned by the view of the Taunus mountain range and across Bad Homburg’s old town, all the way towards the city of Frankfurt. Continue with a walk through the park and indulge in a piece of homemade cake or waffles at the castle café. You may want to stroll back through the historical part of town and drop in at the ‘Erlöserkirche’ church to adore the golden mosaics and admire its four towers. Right across from there, the ‘Sinclairhaus’, as well as the ‘Jakobshallen’ museums, entice with frequently changing contemporary art exhibitions.

For those who can not get enough, a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the ‘Römerkastell Saalburg’ castle will be just the thing in the afternoon. Or maybe at this point, you would like to stay behind for a treat at the Kaiser-Wilhelms-Bad Day Spa, where kings and other royalty from all over Europe and Asia have enjoyed a relaxing time-out in the grand old times!

Must sees in December

In December, the Kurpark ice rink, circling a gigantic roulette wheel, draws the crowds as much as the ‘François Blanc’ casino itself. Benefiting from the castle’s enchanting atmosphere, the romantic Christmas market entices with its life-sized nativity scene, culinary specialties and traditional handicraft, as well as an old-fashioned steam train.

Whether families, companies or health seekers, there is something for everyone to enjoy at the colourful, traditional spa town with a modern touch.

Perfekte Balance
