Open source plays an increasingly important role in IT and will be the future of data centres and their management – that is the belief of Jan R. Bergrath, a board member who is responsible for marketing and distribution at ATIX AG. ATIX, based in Munich, is a specialist for Linux applications and open source software use in complex data centres. Today 75 per cent of data centres are already based on Linux, not only because of Linux’s functionality, security and stability but also because it works well with cloud-based applications and is free to use.
