From bustling beer tents at Oktoberfest to the rich arts scene in Berlin, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re a lover of fine wine, contemporary art or lively music, this month offers a perfect blend of tradition and modernity.
FESTIVAL OF GERMAN FILM, LUDWIGSHAFEN AM RHEIN (21 AUGUST – 8 SEPTEMBER)
This major film festival, one of Germany’s largest, takes place on a charming little island. It celebrates the pinnacle of German filmmaking, drawing celebrities and emerging talents who mingle with film enthusiasts from around the world.

STUTTGARTER WEINDORF, STUTTGART (28 AUGUST – 8 SEPTEMBER)
The Stuttgarter Weindorf wine festival offers nearly 300 wines to taste and has been a cherished fixture on the event calendar for over 45 years, with many local restaurants joining in. It’s a must-visit for any wine connoisseur and a delightful experience for food enthusiasts alike.
GENUSSMEILE, VIENNA WOODS (31 AUGUST – 1 SEPTEMBER AND 7 – 8 SEPTEMBER)
Affectionately known as the ‘longest bar’, this festival stretches an impressive ten kilometres along Vienna’s waterline hiking path between Mödling and Bad Vöslau. Around 80 local vintners present a diverse array of delicious treats. The German word ‘Genussmeile’ aptly translates to ‘mile of indulgence,’ perfectly capturing the essence of these two special weekends filled with delicious food and drinks.

LIQUID MARKET COCKTAIL FESTIVAL, VIENNA (5 – 7 SEPTEMBER)
This three-day festival in Vienna offers an impressive array of cocktails from various cocktail bars, bringing them directly to guests. Touted as Austria’s largest festival for contemporary bar culture, it certainly lives up to its reputation. WAVES VIENNA, VIENNA (5 – 7 SEPTEMBER)
Taking place in and around Vienna’s 9th district, this club and showcase festival draws over 15,000 music enthusiasts annually. Since adopting the motto ‘East meets West: Diversity’ in 2022, the festival has showcased a wide array of music, featuring international and local alternative, electronic, rock and club acts. Alongside the performances, lectures, panels and workshops foster Pan-European collaborations and highlight the significance of European unity.
ARTISTS 24, BERLIN (6 SEPTEMBER)
At ‘Artists 2024 – A Group Exhibition’ at Madeleine CMR, a vibrant collection of works by Tabea Baumann, Cornelia Brelowski, Jacopo Pfrang, Anita Sikora and Madlen Wróbel will be on display. Discover a dynamic blend of artistic styles from Berlin, with a touch of Italian flair. BERLIN ART WEEK, BERLIN (11 – 15 SEPTEMBER)

This annual event brings together a diverse array of artists, featuring over 50 museums, galleries, fairs and private collectors. It’s a unique opportunity to experience the eclectic mix of creativity that Berlin has to offer.
RHEIN IN FLAMMEN, OBERWESEL (14 SEPTEMBER)
The ‘Rhine in Flames’ is an iconic event where stunning fireworks light up the beloved river Rhine. Around 50 decorated ships travel from St. Goar to Oberwesel in the darkness, set against the captivating backdrop of the Loreley cliff, which is illuminated in red. It’s a magnificent spectacle that enchants all.

OKTOBERFEST, MUNICH (21 SEPTEMBER – 6 OCTOBER)
Do you have your Dirndl and Lederhosen ready? That’s right! It’s that time of year again. For the 189th time, Oktoberfest is welcoming the international community of beer lovers. The city’s infamous and beloved ‘Wiesn’ transforms into the perfect setting for a vibrant celebration of quintessentially German pretzels and beer. With the air filled with festive cheer, it’s time to raise your glass and say ‘Prost!’ to good times and great company.
