The professional world is marked by efficiency, thus space management can become a major challenge. So, health facilities, industrial enterprises or hotels: We should talk about employees and the efficient organisation of their personal belongings.

Founded in 2016 by two students of ETH Zurich, Zippsafe produces Smart Soft Storage solutions that help to optimise spaces and processes. Smart Soft Storage? “Yes. Smart Soft Storage. This is what we call our textile storage system for staff rooms”, says founder David Ballad. Exactly what this means is explained by founder Carlo Loderer: “We came up with the idea while still at university. We organised our own events and none of the cloakroom solutions were satisfactory. Due to lack of space, they were chaotic and, as they were manned, cost a lot of money.”

There must be other ways to organise space, thought Ballagi and Loderer – and created Zippsafe. “Zippsafe reinvents the locker, so to speak. We replace the traditionally used hard materials such as metal or wood with intelligent textiles. A normally solid locker becomes a flexible solution, a Smart Soft Storage solution,” explains Ballagi.

The core of Zippsafe’s Smart Soft Storage solution are pockets that flexibly adapt their size to the items stored in them. Clothes are conveniently hung up on pull-out hangers, smaller items can be stored in the inner pockets and larger items such as handbags or helmets can be placed on the bottom of the bag. Hygiene has also been taken into consideration: The bags’ integrated ventilation and the antimicrobial material improve the hygiene in changing rooms and also reduce the risk of contamination.

“Compared to classic lockers, we only need 30% of the usual space. The Smart Soft Storage solutions therefore not only save space but also energy: less space means less heating, less cleaning and less cooling costs,” stresses Loderer.

Another bonus is the management of the bags using IOT technology. Processes and costs can thus easily be optimised. These are advantages that many companies have already discovered for themselves. “Our solutions are suitable for all industries. Wherever people want to store their work clothes and personal items professionally, hygienically and safely. Hospitals in Switzerland and abroad have been open to our ideas from the very beginning. Since then, larger enterprises, hotels etc. have followed”, say the founders.

Viel Platz mit Smart Soft Storage-Lösungen

2016 von zwei Studenten der ETH Zürich gegründet, produziert Zippsafe Smart Soft Storage-Lösungen und hilft damit, Räume und Prozesse zu optimieren. Smart Soft Storage? „Richtig. Smart Soft Storage. So nennen wir unser textiles Aufbewahrungssystem für Mitarbeiterräume”, so Gründer David Ballagi. Was genau man sich darunter vorstellen kann, erklärt Gründer Carlo Loderer: „Die Idee hatten wir während unseres Studiums, als wir eigene Events organisierten und keine der angedachten Garderobenlösungen zufriedenstellend und aus Platzmangel außerdem recht chaotisch war. Außerdem kosteten bemannte Garderoben viel Geld.”

Die Organisation von Platz muss doch auch anders gehen, dachten sich Ballagi und Loderer. Und entwickelten Zippsafe. „Zippsafe erfindet quasi den Spind neu. Die traditionell verwendeten harten Materialien wie Metall oder Holz haben wir durch intelligentes Textil ersetzt. Der normalerweise starre Spind wird so zu einer flexiblen Lösung, zur Smart Soft Storage Solution eben”, erklärt Ballagi.

Den Kern der Smart Soft Storage-Solution von Zippsafe bilden textile Schließtaschen, die sich in ihrer Größe flexibel an die darin verstauten Gegenstände anpassen. Kleidung kann bequem über einen ausziehbaren Bügel aufgehängt werden, kleinere Gegenstände finden in den Innentaschen und größere Gegenstände wie Handtaschen oder Motorradhelme auf dem Boden der Schließtasche Platz. Auch an die Hygiene wurde gedacht: Die integrierte Lüftung der Taschen und das antimikrobielle Material verbessern die Hygiene in Umkleideräumen und reduzieren zudem das Kontaminationsrisiko.

„Im Vergleich zu den klassischen Spinden benötigen wir gerade einmal 30% des üblichen Platzes. Die Smart Soft Storage Solution spart damit nicht nur Platz, sondern auch Energie: weniger Raum bedeutet weniger Heiz-, Reinigungs- und Kühlaufwand”, betont Loderer.

Ein weiterer Bonus ist die Verwaltung der Taschen über IOT-Technologie. Prozesse und Kosten lassen sich so leicht optimieren. All dies sind Vorteile, die bereits viele Unternehmen für sich entdeckt haben. „Unsere Lösungen sind in allen Branchen einsetzbar. Überall dort eben, wo Menschen ihre Berufskleidung und persönlichen Gegenstände professionell, hygienisch und sicher verstauen möchten. Krankenhäuser aus dem In- und Ausland haben sich hier von Anfang an sehr offen für unsere Ideen gezeigt. Mittlerweile haben auch größere Industrieunternehmen, Hotels, etc. nachgezogen”, so die beiden Gründer.
