The Mountain Hub Gourmet is one of the most unusual gastronomy projects in Munich and the region.

Located in a side wing of the iconic lobby of the Hilton Munich Airport, the path to fine dining leads from the light-flooded glass hall directly next to Terminal 1 into the homely, warm atmosphere of the gourmet restaurant – designed to the highest standards with exclusively local materials and in the Alpine colours of the region. In an interplay of grass green, wood brown, water blue and sky blue, the Mountain Hub Gourmet, which was opened in September 2020, presents itself beautifully to the international public and local gourmets.

The exceptional fine-dining concept is supported by the kitchen and service teams, led by Stefan Barnhusen (including 1 star in the Michelin Guide 2022) and Johannes J. Gahberger (including 20/20 rating Service, Falstaff, October 2022).

Guests can enjoy a seasonal, regularly changing four-course menu or à la carte at the Mountain Hub Gourmet for lunch. In the evening, gourmets have a choice of four to six courses in the tasting menu, accompanied by a sophisticated non-alcoholic accompaniment or wines from the Global Winner Wine Selection at the World Luxury Restaurant Awards 2022, which Johannes J. Gahberger has compiled in the wine cellar of the Mountain Hub Gourmet.

Based in the foothills of the Alps, we as a kitchen team have a cornucopia of regional ingredients virtually on our doorstep, from fish from lakes and rivers to certain breeds of animals for excellent meat or dairy products, and from artisan cheese dairies to the variety of vegetables, fruits and nuts, provided directly from farmers or processed in the old tradition,” says Stefan Barnhusen, who is proud to serve this regionality at a top international level to gourmets from everywhere between Munich and Melbourne, as they travel through Munich Airport.

Getragen wird das außergewöhnliche Fine-Dine-Konzept von den Teams in Küche und Service, geleitet von Stefan Barnhusen (unteranderem 1 Stern Guide Michelin 2022) und Johannes J. Gahberger (unter anderem 20/20-Bewertung Service, Falstaff, Oktober 2022).

Die Gäste genießen im Mountain Hub Gourmet zum Lunch ein an der Saison ausgerichtetes, regelmäßig wechselndes Vier-Gänge-Menü oder À la carte, abends haben Gourmets die Wahl von vier bis sechs Gängen im Degustationsmenü, begleitet von einer anspruchsvollen alkoholfreien Begleitung oder von Weinen aus der ‚Global Winner Wine Selection‘ bei den World Luxury Restaurant Awards 2022, die Johannes J. Gahberger im Weinkeller des Mountain Hub Gourmet zusammengestellt hat.

„Das Mountain Hub Gourmet bietet mir als Koch ein Umfeld, wie ich es mir nur wünschen kann: Beheimatet in der Voralpenregion, haben wir als Küchenteam ein Füllhorn an regionalen Zutaten quasi direkt vor der Haustüre, von Fischen aus Seen und Flüssen über alte Tierrassen für exzellentes Fleisch oder Milchprodukten aus Handwerks-Käsereien bis hin zur Vielfalt an Gemüse, Obst, Früchten, Nüssen, direkt von produzierenden Landwirten oder verarbeitet in alter Tradition“, so Stefan Barnhusen, der diese Regionalität auf internationalem Spitzenniveau Gourmets aus München oder Melbourne am Flughafen München serviert.
