Trends to look out for in late 2022

1. Return to nature and sustainability

Sustainability is advancing in the design world, and key brands are earnestly embracing a path of greater respect for the environment by offering a conscious vision of living, with furniture and decor made entirely from recycled materials and using optimised production processes. Furthermore, organic textures and natural materials are as popular as ever, creating a refreshing, grounded space with a bit of retro flare. With us having spent more time indoors than ever before, we’re all seeking to strengthen our connection with nature. 2. Wood in architecture

Yet again, sustainability and the responsible use of materials are of utmost importance to architecture bureaus all over in 2022. Many are choosing wood as the main building material, as it is known to have a positive impact on the environment, as well as on human well-being. Wood has a lighter carbon footprint than concrete or steel, and it is now common to see many new buildings feature wood such as timber.

3. Dulux colour ‘Bright Skies’

Dulux have announced Bright Skies as their Colour of the Year 2022. The colour experts at Dulux describe Bright Skies as “an airy and fresh tone that opens up and breathes new life into any space”. We’ll be seeing a lot more of this hopeful and optimistic colour in the coming months.

4. Neutral colours and evocative forms

This year’s interior designs seem to heavily focus on light, muted colours, and many furnishings are in enveloping and relaxing earth tones: ochre, cream, beige, grey and endless delicate variations. These colours are used for more intimate spaces in the home, starting with bedrooms, but also adapt well to all spaces including living rooms, terraces and bathrooms. Combine this with evocative forms and you have eye-catching designs that will transform an entire room instantly.
